Hi,

I am soliciting your help because I would like to have a basic guide regarding the field uniform and equipment worn by an enlisted man of a Prussian Cuirassier regiment during the first weeks of the War.

For the basic impression on the field, I retained the following items (are they correct?):

- M. 1889 helmet for troops of the Prussian Cuirassier Regiments;
- M. 1908 Field Cap for troops of the Prussian Cuirassier Regiments;
- M. 1908 feldgrau tunic (mainly feldgrau version of the Koller);
- M. 1910 feldgrau tunic;
- trousers (?);
- boots (?);
- M. 1895 or M. 1911 sabre-belt for mounted troops (tanned);
- M. 1911 Cavalry three-piece ammunition pouches (tanned);
- Cuirassier Pallasch (?);
- Y-Straps (?).

As you can see, I don't have any information regarding the trousers, the boots, the sword and the webbing.

Richard, this is the M1911 Mounted Troops belt and sword hanger you require for your Kürassier c. 1914. This was adopted for all uses and replaced the white leather sword belts on 23 December 1911. You would also need the M1911 cavalry ammo pouches, thinner than the M1911 Infanterie pouch. I believe the cavalry did not receive the cavalry Y straps until 1915?

Hi Tony,

Thanks a lot for the information!

Regarding the M.1911 cavalry ammo pouch, can you tell me if the leather had a smooth or pebble finish?

Richard

P.-S.: Very nice avatar Tony. You and Kaiser ''The Brave Canuk''.
