Prussian Dragoon Reserve Officer's Pickelhaube

Great lid Brusik! :thumb up:

I notice your helmet has 2 kokarden, does this simply signify use post 1897 or some other significance? Is the right side cockade the red/white/black Reich colours?

Hello comrades,
unfortunately I can not speak English, I use the Google translator
But I can speak German and Russian :)

these are the usual cockades of officer, the spiked helmet is made of black Vulcan Fiber :)

Willkommen brusik!

Yes, your helmet ist the post 1900 pattern, longer spike, two cockades of the new officer style.
Glenns helmet is the old pattern one (1880-1890), short spike, only the old style prussian officer cockade on the right side.

Perusing Tony's website as I often do, I note that the position of the Landwehr cross on the chest and lack of Fatherland bandeau denotes my helmet as Landwehr as opposed to Reserve.

I wonder, does this impact the relative rarity of my helmet? Would a Dragoon Landwehr be rightly considered scarcer than a Dragoon reserve or vice versa?

I knew Mr Morley, he was originally from the UK, he and his wife operated an antique store in a small town east of Toronto. They both would set up at militaria shows here in Ontario and I would have conversations with him when we met up at these shows. I knew he had a small haube collection along with other militaria. Congrats on this fine piece...if I had known that it was up for sale, I would have scooped it in a New York Minute.

In my opinion, I don't think so. Personally, I prefer the Reserve or Landwehr version of any Pickelhaube, as then you are getting a bonus Landwehr cross on the Wappen. Its a matter of what strikes your eye. I don't think it affects value. One does not seem any 'scarcer' than the other, as in the end, it really comes down to condition.
