Prussian Dragoons EM M1915 Pickelhaube

Bruno,

Indeed a nice collection! Personally, I like the Mecklenberg M15, one I don't have yet. We were in that part of Germany a couple of years ago and I didn't get a chance to do any helmet searching in antique stores... do you know how difficult that was!?? (thank goodness the beer consoled me, as well as the other great and fun things we did!).

So, is the one in the Larcade book fixed with the wrong spike? ... or were the infantry style sometimes used? Just wonderin'.

:D Ron

Hi Ron,
Regarding the Dragoner Perlring spike, M15 helmets should have the same characteristics as M95 models (see the spikes on the Mecklemburg and bavarian artillery helmets). Of course spikes were certainly often switched, but as a collector don't you want to own the real thing? I do not have my Larcade books here but isn't the pictured helmet with the Perlring a "Probe"?..
Do not regret your time in Mecklemburg. Your chance to find a spike helmet at the local antique shop or flea market would have been infinitesimal!
