Hi Gianluca,

Very nice condition, and a hard to find helmet! Congratulations on this great find! :bravo:

I used to have one of these (not quite as nice as yours) that I had acquired for $75, from the late Ted Lagerstrom in 1988, at the old Fort Dodge gun show. After I was broken into and robbed back in 1992, I sold it, along with almost my entire collection within a year's time. :(

I'll see if I can dig out some photos of what mine looked like. Mine had a faded cloth ID label for the soldier inside the forehead area of the liner.

All the Best,

Alan

Very nice find, here is a quick pic of mine, left is a Cork example, right is cloth covered like yours.

Hard to find, Congrats!.

Here's the one I used to have. I can only find 3-pictures of it currently. I'm not sure where the others are packed away. I should see if the guy I sold it to still has it or not. I've actually been able to buy back a couple of the helmets I used to have, from when I sold things off after being robbed more than 20-years ago.

Believe it or not when I bought it, the cloth was so dirty that I had it dry cleaned by a local mom and pop shop. And the body was pushed in on top. I steamed it out with a tea kettle and re-shaped it. It came out pretty nice.

I don't know if anyone can read the label inside the liner or not, it's fairly faded out.

All the Best,

Alan

Another ersatz helmet , cork cloth covered type
Not in the same new conditions as James example but nice and original.
all the best

Hi Brian,

Yes, it is an oil cloth liner in my former helmet.

I wish that I could lay my hands on the other photos I have of the helmet and liner, but I don't know where they are packed away at the moment.

All the Best,

Alan

I can only read "Landsturmmann", "Komp." and further "II Landsturm Inf. Batt."
