Prussian Fahnentrager

Hi, I agree - probably the Inf.-Rgt. Nr.25, established 1813 and from April 1910 in Aachen.
Great picture Steve! Greetings Jens
Thanks to all
Redlin did a great job on his series of Prussian flags
In some cases he did the Sakular Banner in detail
BUT , not all of them
I will see if Redlin did the Sakular for I R 25
also, in cases of the early regiments, each Sakular Banner was different
per each Batl.
Thanks to Karl B. for this photo

I checked my collection of Redlin Fahna reference plates
I have his I R 25 plates
and my index shows that he did a plate for the Sakular parade banner
but it is not with my set
so I have no real proof that it is I R 25
Does anyone out there have reference to the Sakular Banner of I R 25 ?
Maybe Glenn can find out ?
Anyone have a collection of the Redlin plates ?
Another collector that I know has a set but he is missing the same plates that I am
I begin to wonder if there is such a thing as a complete set ?
Thanks
Steve

Steve,
there was about 16 Prussian line infantry units with the 1813 Säkularband (and only one of them was rheinisch).
On the Säkularband 1813 is writen: "Infanterie des Lützowschen Freikorps" and this also fits for the Inf.-Rgt. von Lützow (1. Rheinisches) Nr. 25.
Perhaps an enlargement of the shoulderboards would also help!?
;) Best regards, Jens

All good info
and thanks for the post
Do you own the Redlin Prussian Fahna Plates ?
As I stated his index shows there should be a plate for the Sakular Banner
of I R 25 , but my set is missing that plate
For me reference on the Sakular banners are hard to find for the 100 years 1813 -1913
the Berlin Fahna books were printed before 1913 , so they are not referenced there
The Fahna card album that you show , tells us what regiments were formed 1813
and they had the Sakular banner but not what the Banner reads
What you have laid out looks good to me
so I will go along with I R 25
It seems all 3 Batls had the same wording on the banner,
as Redlin only did 1 plate for the regiment
some of the early regiments had a different Sakular banner for each Batl
Example the KAGGR # 1 .Each of the 3 Batls had a different Sakular banner
Here are 2 of them in my collection ;GGR1 / I B and II BS I R 14 I I Batl.jpegSakular I R 14 I I Bataillon.jpeg
also Redlin plate 229 showing I R 14 / II Batl
and a photo of the I R 14 / II Batl Sakular in my collection Sakular G G R 1 a.jpeg

Steve,
unfortunately I no longer have the plates by Reinhold Redlin "Preußische Fahnen und Standarten".
And you are right, unfortunately there is no comprehensive source / literature what exactly was written on all the banners.
But I think that what we can seen on the card (Schild Verlag) should be enough to confirm the Inf.-Rgt. Nr.25.
:) Thanks and best regards, Jens

Great job !
I have some of those cards by Schild Verlag
but I did not think to check them
I maybe even have that card ?
For the level of publication
we can see the wording much better than I expected
once you enlarged and rotated it
Thanks
I will now label my photo Fahnentrager I R 25

Hi Steve,
There is no doubt that it is one of the flags of the 25th Infantry Regiment. But at the moment it is impossible to determine the battalion. It could be as it appears on the color plate of the I Battalion.
The history of the regiment in its preamble defines it as "Die Infanterie des v.Lützowschen Frei-Corps"
I don't think there is a complete collection with all the centennial bands.
I have a compilation of all the known Sakular Fahnenband made by Hans Joachin Ulrich, (author of Soldaten im Bunten Rock - Stuttgart 1970) a friend of Redlin. and there are several regiments without data.
