East Prussia

Thanks Alan!Great find, congratulations!
B.A. II was headquartered in Stettin, in the province of Pommern & Posen in 1914. Grenadier Regiment 2 was stationed in Stettin in 1914.
Best Wishes,
Alan
Thanks for the info Philippe!Steve, GR2 is a Pommern unit, not Ostpreußen.
The II Armee Korps in Stettin was pomeranian with infantry garrisons of Stargard, Bromberg, Swinemünde, Stralsund, Greifswald, Kolberg, Köslin. It had two infantry garrisons on the territory of Westpreussen (V AK): Hohensalza and Schneidemühl.
The I AK (Königsberg) was eastprussian (infantry garrisons in Königsberg, Rastenburg, Gumbinnen, Tilsit, Memel, Pillau, Goldap, Insterburg and Darkehmen).
And yes, I agree, regimentally EM pieces of headgear from the I AK (Ostpreußen) are absolutely seldom and extremly hard to find, because all those units were envolved on the eastern front.
I am lucky for owning one of the JR45 (Insterburg and Darkehmen), a very late produced M95 in the first half year of 1915, with the hand penciled number 45 on the front of the Überzug. The Überzug first was regimented to the GR3 (Königsberg) and then was given to the JR45. This is not astonished, because the two Ersatz-Bataillonen of the JR45 first were in Königsberg (also garrison of GR3 as of the two Ersatz-Bataillonen of GR3) since the mobilisation of August 1914.
EB I /JR45 moved to Insterburg (garrison of JR45) in February 1915. EB II/JR45 moved to Insterburg in September 1915 too..
Helmet is named in front visor to a soldier Kramer, from the II (EB) JR45. Rear visor shows JR45 stamp and also a faint BA.I. stamp on the other side.
Helmet obviously never has seen the front line because its condition is really mint. I am assuming that the guy who wore this helmet first was in another unit at the beginning of the war, get injured and moved after his recovery in the II Ersatz Bataillon JR45 in a administrative position due to potential unsuitability for frontline service. So he perceived this lately produced M95 helmet at the beginning of 1915 and did not wore it a lot. Helmet was found a few years ago in Berlin following a family inheritance.
