Many thanks Bruno and Jonas. Another learning experience.....there are always some surprises with these helmets.

if it always go's without any problems to restore a helmet where would be the joy in life to do so
nothing go's without falling en standing up and that gives asspesially you the oppertiunety of learing out the things that go once and a while wrong
by eatch and every other helmet that crosses your hands you can reply wath you have learnd over the years and
by posting the steps here you can be a teatcher to the ones that want to try for there own
i think i wouldend have the guts to try and restore one just for failling along the way
hats of for this

Hi Brian and everyone who has been following this post,

The restoration is excellent. It is now what one would expect for a general's helmet to be. Now it is well cared for. I can hardly wait for the trichter to arrive so that I can place the federbusch back on it. I would certainly recommend Brian for this sort of work, and will be looking forward to having him restore my second generals pickelhaube this coming summer. That one will not need the brightwork redone, but the front and rear visors will both need to be restitched as on this one.I will post more photos of the completed helmet once the trichter arrives.
