Prussian Grey Wappen with Voided Crown?

This reminds me of the unidentified wappen in Joe's article on M15 German plates...
Officer-style golden eagle painted grey maybe? :-k

What makes me go :-k :-k is the photo of the back. There seems to be some solder there, but there's no sign that there were ever any fasteners IN the solder. Something odd about that. Other than that, it looks like an interesting plate, but I really don't know for certain about it.
Thinking about 'trench art', a soldier with a punch and jeweler's saw could easily void the crown of his wappen. Something to do in the spare time... just to spruce it up a bit.

I once had one like that. The Crown was cut out within X-Acto knife. I did not see it as I did not want to but someone pointed it out to me. I sold it as a doctor job. I should have known. Loops on the back… The really sad thing is that someone bought it at SOS–a dealer–having been told that it was screwed up and he tripled the price and put it on his table for sale.

Aside from the voided crown, I thought of a reason for the solder... tinning. (a solder puddle put on to help adhesion of the loops or whatnot when they're put on) duh.
