What got me on this one were the split brads holding on the plate.... thin.... split.... brads.... hmmmm.....

:D Ron

Hey Ron, isn't this the (only) split brad holding the rear spine to the shell?

OK got it; you guys have sharp eyes!! There should be leather tabs instead...

But one has to admit this is one heck of a good looking helmet... Apart from that 'tiny' wappen fixation detail, and maybe the missing regimental markings, I can't see anything else...
J’avoue que ‘Cherry959’ m’aurait facilement eu avec ce casque… :x

To me, the split brads on the plate indicate it is not original to the helmet, or even an original plate. I don't know enough about plate fixtures to know if this was post WWI, a repro plate, etc. Maybe somebody can enlighten me. Personally, I wouldn't trust it, although it does look nice.

Me too, that's why I ALWAYS looking for regimental marking on haubes especialy on guard helmets.

You're right Ron, it's very good looking helmet. The plate looks good, but the splits indicate to me a very good repro.

Take care gentlemen, the bad guys improve their weapons...

:-x
