Another cheap "museum quality" piece of junk (check-out that spike!! )
However, doesn't the shell look like the 1857-60 type/shape?

The seller's marketing attempt made me laugh; couldn't resist 'commenting' on it:
"This jewel  has not shrunk up like most you will ever come across. This is from my personal collection :-". But must part with it  . Check out the picks :-&.
Sold as is #-o. Another great offering :-({|= from Frodo's Collectables [Frodo Baggins himself? :-" ].
Great looking helmet :-&. I only hope to look that good after 98 years [ :-k don't we all?]."

This helmet shell was sold by our friend seeallmyauctions with a different spike and wappen on it Ron..unless im very much mistaken. I recognise the rear view with the shadowing either side of the spine left by what looks to have been a firemans comb. Perhaps Frodo bought the helmet and swapped the good bits for bad when he realised it was a put together? Love the out of focus pics

I'm sure there's more than one of these floating around out there... I bought a shell like this in the late 70's for $30 at a show, fireman's comb imprint, an original earlier spike with the 'pearl ring', missing the eagle; except no back spine. There's also a clear imprint of a fire brigade badge. Too bad this eagle's been soldered up, might have been okay on the converted helmet I have. As to originality of the spike / comb combo on mine, I can't say, but the shell I purchased was of the same shape, size 60 :-? and hadn't shrunk much either... very thick leather. It's a 'for fun' type helmet that's not worth a bean... that I know of.

Your quite right..I was thinking of this helmet (or one of the helmets sold by this seller)

I recognised the background.

BUT... How is it that an American based seller is selling a converted firehelmet photographed against the same background as a German based seller and both have repro spikes and stuff of the same quality?? Is this just the case that Frodo bought a helmet from Pickelhauben and used the same pics to sell it on? or is it a seller who flits between the U.S. and Europe.

Interestingly Pickelhauben has nothing on offer at the moment [-X

Also on pickelhaube feedback, the second and third items for which he received positive feedback seem to be the same item?

That is without a doubt the same background..its not just similar.

My appologies to seeallmyauctions for falsely accusing him of selling fakes..oh wait..I give up :!:
