Picked up this wonderful helmet at the last SOS, just getting around to posting it. Well marked to Konigs Inf. Regt. 145.

This Regiment was authorized to wear this plate on June 16th 1913 to celebrate the Kaiser's 25th year of rule.

interesting helmet as it also has what appears to be 2 old German costume house stamps. Liner string is not correct, but it came that way.

sorry for the bad photo's, been raining for days so cannot go outside!

James

I recall you mentioned you had picked this up, very nice James. What I find interesting about these helmets to IR145, is that the loops on the back of the eagle Wappen are often close together so that the spread-winged Grenadier eagle would fit in the grommet holes where the Line Eagle Wappen had been until 1913. The spike top is removable?

(I can see now the post inside the spike top. Duh..)

Slim; I too saw this one at the show and it was alittle hard to figure out the front plate and its use with this helmet. Glad you got it figured out. :D :D Jerry (Cant wait for the SOS only 8+ mo to go.)

James: Very nice helmet. As Tony mentioned some of these helmets have gromets positioned to accept a line front plate as was worn by the regiment prior to 1913. Here is an example dated 1905 made by Hermann Clemen. The mounting loops on a standard grenadier front plate were moved so the plate would be compatible with the gromet spacing.

Tony and Res1. thanks for the comments.

I usually would take the frontplate for a look, but the leather tabs on this one are very tight and brittle, I do not want to break them...

Hello,
I have some questions about the eagle-style after 1913 from the IR145.
I'm a little bit confused, because there are so many different opinions about
how the eagle was looking after 1913.

Some people sayed, it's a Grenadier-Eagle some sayed is a Garde-Eagle without a star.
I think (for officiers-helmet) it is someting from both (please see picture)!

Thank you and best regards,
Jens

Here is mine. Note on the bottom photo that the reverse of the Grenadier Wappen shows that the loops for the M1895 pattern Grenadier eagle Wappen are close-together to fit the holes of the replaced Line Eagle Wappen as of 1913 and there is no other solder. This indicates the eagle Wappen was never used on a Grenadier Pickelhaube, and was made to accommodate the old holes of this IR145 example. More photos HERE.

Hi, thanks for the pictures!
And yes for the Mannschaft - but I know two helmets/plates from 145 officiers, there
wear the "Grenadier"-Wappen with a straight cross guard (gerade Parierstange).
