Hello forum,

I recently purchased a nice Kurassier 1915 helmet in the UK. The helmet is in very good overall condition, large cockades, lining, no corrosion, BUT with infantry-style Wappen and spike. The darkening of the colour is identical on all grey parts, so I am quite convinced that they were assembled originally. The spike base is fixed with split pen fixations. There are no markings whatsoever on the helmet. Can anyone please help me identifying this helmet (possible maker? year of manufacturing? etc.). Many thanks in advance.

I have a CE Junker helmet similarly manufactured. Dated 1916.
However, without a maker mark, I can't say what yours would be in regard to manufacturer.

On my to-do list I'm going to look at the pictures in the new Krauss book -- the photo book. There are many strange anomalies and I will try to see if there is one like you describe. What is really striking about helmet covers in this book is how bad a condition they are in. I mean there are some really beat up covers.
 
I had a look through the book last night and I did not find anything that I could report as matching your description. Really difficult to determine the size of the Eagle.

However, on a related note one of the most interesting pictures in the book is on page 521. There is a marching out photo of a Jeager z p in am M1910 waffenrock. Nothing unusual there however he has an M15 Kurassiere helmet with gray fittings. very clear picture.
