The only Landwehr Infantry Regt to have a cypher on their shoulder straps
A special Thanks to Jens and Francis for their information on this regiment
the LIR2 was awarded for brave service in 1917
and Kaiser Wilhelm II became regimental commander (Chef).
AKO from July 29, 1917
No. 800. Award of the Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 2.
I declare myself, in special recognition of the brave conduct before the enemy of the Landwehr Infantry Regiment No. 2, to be the head/chief of this regiment and decree that it shall be called: Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiment König Wilhelm II. Nr. 2 and that the officers and men of this regiment shall wear my name/chiffre on their epaulettes & shoulder boards. They must submit the sample of the chiffre to me for approval. Grand Headquarter, 29. July 1917.
This information is from Jens .
I would not think that the Landwehr would have epaulettes in 1917
