Hi Lost Skeleton,
thanks for that insight!I will look later..........unfortunately I have to get back to the dimensions,now is that measure given at the site provided by the link a square one or is it just the height?

I measure on chickens from the bottom of the tail feathers to the top of the crown. For all measurements I use a piece of tape laid on the obverse. This then accounts for curvature of different shells. Seems to be working so far....
 
Hey Chas,
did you read R1's above post, this would expain why your felt tschako that you had for sale at SOS looks real, it just needs the correct Wappen, and it is probably a very uncommon peice.
