Looks ok to me;just pitty about the outside condition/look...
And the front visor looks small/narrow to me.

Looks okay overall to me. The liner color is one I've not seen before (from the flash?). Also, it looks to have wartime chinscales, is that correct? If so, where does the spike unscrew (is it two or three parts)? It would be interesting to find out. I agree about the wrinkles and such in the lacquer, but overall I think this would clean up nice if it passes your inspection and all of the parts look good to you. It's always difficult to tell from photos, but this one seems to be worth a look. Be sure to look under / behind the liner.... Might be a red flag or two there.
Maybe Brian or somebody would have some comments on the front visor, how to tell if it's been altered or the trim cut to compensate for shrinking, but from the photos it looks normal (?)

Thanks for your time, Ron!
I did ask the seller extra pictures regarding the parts that are covered by the liner, but didn't got them , yet!
cheers

It's an older type (before 1897) helmet and maybe the chinscales were replaced when the Reichskokarde was added, I don't know. Anyway they appear to be a younger model than the helmet. No problem with the liner imo. So all in all a nice helmet, regarding that the pictures should be better than the ones provided...
It can be a good deal but that will all depend on the price, Prussian Infanterie helmets are not that hard to find and so they are not that expensive...

Looks fine to me as well. Nice to have the leather chin strap still intact, so many have gone missing or were cut off.

The chinstrap is a very long one, and seemed have been sitting as one can see on the picture (in a bad way!), for a very long time.
I had a hard time to get it as it should, without any damage.
But the leather will need to be treated in a short time.

Small thoughts from a small mind.

We start with the Prussian line eagle. You would think there are all made the same but they're not. There are definite differences between eagles. The key thing to note here is the bandeau. Established in 1860, this is known as a Koenig bandeau. The important thing to understand about a bandeau is that it is supposed to be some where. The bandeau is either on the eagle or on a Landwehr cross. Correct would have a bandeau, in one place. Incorrect, but often found on original examples and in pictures, is the bandeau on the plate as well is on the reserve cross. The F. R. on the chest, stands for Friedrich, Rex.

This is a Prussian reserve eagle. It is identical to the Prussian line eagle except for the lack of a bandeau. These wappen are supposed to have a landwehr cross or reserve cross. Even with the lack of a cross. You can tell, it is a reserve eagle based on the F. R. with no bandeau. Beamte often used an FR eagle without bandeau. There was no enlisted version of the FR eagle.

This is a Prussian landwehr eagle. The motto is located on the landwehr cross.

Quiet right , I know the title was wrong; feel free to correct!
I realized when I came by the enlisted wappen.
It as only been nearly 30 years I was into thise kind of helmets, but it is coming back....slowly...! ;-)

I thought it was a good review for me! Plus it is a break from the book. You know I used to call these reserve crosses – I wonder how many people I confused with that one?
