Prussian Tin Ersatz helmet

Just picked up This Prussian version of the of the Tin helmet, I have shown it next to my Bavarian Bing version.

Has all the great characteristic:

False retaining studs on the spike

Rear spine that stops short of reaching the spike base.

has the slot type hole in helmet for attaching front plate

Has some type of white paint marking on inside.

I believe it may be an unissued helmet as I beleive the paint is original. Has faint outline in paint of frontplate where paint has faded etc.

Liner is very soft and complete less the drawstring.

Sorry for the bad close up of the attachment slot.

James

James; Very nice find! You are also missing the felt pad that was in the upper part of the linner. I thought maybe the one I have this was a piece of felt the individual put in there but after picking up a second one with the same pad I was pleasantly surprised.

I saw you won this. Congratulations! The Prussian is a kit helmet is it not?

Me too. My finger was on the button until I saw you were the high bidder. Fortnately, as an officer now (sniff) :confused4: I have morals and did not bid again. :laughing9: You stole it. And it is the standard Eisenblech Pickelhaube with snap-on visors held on with clips etc. T

Congrats James very nice. Joe is correct, this is one of those kit helmets that was discussed a while back. Joe also has an excellent pic showing one of the groups involved in assembling these helmets. I have one of these Prussian helmes as well complete with the felt pad skull cap. My liner is the exact same leather as this one...no black dye, very soft and pliable with a dome tab fastener. My Bavarian Bing Bros also looks similar. Brian

Thanks Guy's as Tony said I got a good deal on this one, even had a FUNKY bonus Chain used as a chinstrap that came with it.

Joe- Yes I do beleive this is a KIT helmet.

Thanks

James

James,

Is the maker listed anywhere on the helmet? Is it inscribed inside the front visor like this one?

Thanks!

Who's paying for all these helmets James? Me?

Power of Attorney comes with responsibilities you know.

Just kidding. Nice helmet.
