Brian, this is not really a 'latest find' but you asked me to post pics of this back in April and I just got around to shooting it - badly as you can see. anyway, it will give you an idea of it and I'll try to do some better pictures of it this week. I can see why people like the uniforms as well as the headgear and I'm very tempted to wear it at my next private view but my wife would disown me and I think it's a bit on the small side. Tony has told me what it is exactly - thank's Tony! I guessed it was Uhlan but had no idea what regiment or if it was issue or private purchase. It seems to be of very good quality and it weighs a ton!! Smells cool too!

I'll look for some markings. I haven't really been over it properly. No shoulder-boards unfortunately but it's a nice thing!

How are you fella's? Sorry I've been away so long. I got caught up in painting a bit for a while there. Haven't bought many helmets recently - the collection stands at around eight still. I don't mind too much. It's funny, but since you [Brian!] kind of got me into these things I find that I really like the 1915 model's best. If I could just keep 3 it would be my 1915 Infantry [ bought from 'Timp-B.'], my 1915 Garde Artillery and a wartime JzP to the 7th Rgt. They are all in great shape and big head sizes. :D
 
great stuff... im still looking around to get a tunic like that in my collection... i guess time will tell if i get there...

Very nice clean private purchase ulanka. With the piping (red) and button color (gilt) combination, the ulanka could have been worn for UR1 through UR4; all Prussian. Piping for officer boards for UR1 would be white with a "crown AIII" cypher for Tsar Alexander III of Russia. Piping for officer boards for UR2 would be red with a gild"2". Piping for officer boards for UR3 would be yellow with a "crown AII" cypher for Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Piping for officer boards for UR4 would be medium blue with a gild"4". After 1915, a second piping underlay of red would be worn, both for the subdued field and the metallic Friedensuniform boards.

Thanks Dave, thats a great clarification too - I was not sure what the boards actually looked like. Thanks again to all for their invaluable help on I.D'-ing this for me. :-)
