Question about helmet plate

Hey all,

Very excited to have found this community! Have recently started to collect Pickelhauben and recently acquired an artillery helmet, however it has a wappen version that I hadn’t seen before and wondered if anyone would be able to provide a bit more information? The aluminum part reminds me of a Baden sign, however the design seems off.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Police or Fire, not military. I don't actually know why they use the ball vs spike sometimes. There are some super knowledgeable people here on these.

Might be a piece, that was put together during post war, either by a collector or a seller. I would say it most likely a Frankenstein pickelhaube, nontheless a piece with great bones(but with the wrong hardware.

Thanks so much for the feedback, makes sense that it’s a later addition. Might tinker around and see if I can remove it, as the helmet otherwise is in great condition

The aluminium part is the coat of arms of the city the firefighter was stationed, at.

Fireman's Wachtmeister helmet.
Some had a ball, others a point. Some had a ball, others a spike. The simple fireman had a banana crest. The eagle is that of the administration, without the Vaterlandbandeau, and the silver coat of arms that of the Rhineland. This is for a regional firefighter's Feldwebel, Weimar Republic era.
