Question about trophies

Hi,

Can you tell me if the trophies of war in the hands of this Russian soldier is a Model 1915 Preußen Infantry trooper pickelhaube? And what kind of shell is it next to the helmet?

Helmet appears to be M95 Prussian OR helmet to reserve..

That eagle Wappen has a Fatherland Bandeau. So it was first Line, then a Landwehr cross placed on. To be Landwehr? Reserve? Who knows? One of my favourite Prussian Wappen is this pattern of ‘hybrid’.

Looks a bit like an 18 Pounder but more curved at the top. I think French 75 mm?

I bet I f the pickelhaube was found at the SOS many would think it was a dealer enhanced job. Great picture and thank you for sharing.

Hi Steve,
According to the Bekleidungsordnung 1903, §117, page 204, it was allowed to add the Landwehrkreuz to a Wappen with Bandeau, when the helmet was transferred from an active unit to a unit with Landwehrkreuz, to make life easier (and it's probably cheaper to add a Landwehrkreuz to an active Wappen, rather than take off the active Wappen and replace it with a Reserve/Landwehr Wappen).
