Quiet rare to find in a house clearing over here...

What an interesting find! The caps look like school and/or fencing club examples, and I'm sure the individual portrait is showing a gent in dueling society garb. Dueling, and organized clubs and societies dedicated to it, were huge in pre-war Germany. There are academic books on the topic (some linked below) but it can be really hard to identify specific organization's outfits. I'm sure pretty much everybody in those clubs ended up serving during the war - would be great to learn the individual stories of the guys in your pictures.

Congratulations Kris, that is a collection in itself! Here is my own contribution, a gift from a friend who once lived in Munich. I had it for a while before lifting out what I thought was a 'liner' - that turned out to be a Cafe serviette - and discovered the hidden contents.
