This is a rare hat and its not cheap. Bayern (Bavaria) Jäger Officer's Schirmmütze wore by Kgl. Bayer. 1. Jäger-Batl. König (Freising) I Bayerisches Armee Korps, Kgl. Bayer. 2. Jäger-Batl. (Aschaffenburg) II Bayerisches Armee Korps, or Kgl. Bayer. 3. Jäger-Batl.. This very scarce high quality example is made from a medium-blue wool with medium-green band and piping, unlike Preußen Jäger Schirmmützen which are made from dark green doeskin wool with red band and piping. Externally this Schirmmütze is flawless with absolutely no damage or wear. This Schirmmütze exhibits the wonderful "Teller" (plate) style of privately purchased Schirmmützen, where the cap top is an equal height on all sides. This example has the typical private purchase silk lining with a leather sweatband. The owner's initials of "BVG" are written on the top in ink as well as the the maker's stamp of "Eduard Sachs" on the cloth lining. I paid $700 for it years ago. You will not find a better example.
