Rare but Rough Piece

I currently hold the high bid on this one at the moment. We shall see how long that lasts haha

There is certainly a helmet there which can be restored but the wappen which is the most valuable part of this ensemble has some obvious issues! It will be interesting to see how this ends.

I was the high bidder, if the Eagle was complete then I would go further but added to the state of the rest of the helmet and I cant keep paying for Brians luxury cruises I might give it a miss. Rob

I'd love to see if someone could fix that Wappen that's where all the value is.

Maybe I'm missing something but the listing states Officer Garde Helmet ??

Back in the day I had the same regiment plate that was missing the orb and claw.
I had a matching doner plate that I took to a jeweler and he gold soldered the orb and claw to the Gorde plate.
It turned out great !

What a shame.

The helmet is fixable in the right hands but there's nothing that can fix that Wappen and that's where the value lies. It's not Kammer marked so it could be repaired and a Prussian Line Wappen used instead. It would have to go pretty cheap to be worth the effort.

I needed this one badly enough to bid seriously, but was unfortunately runner-up to the winning bidder. Hopefully the new owner has the skills and love to repair it properly. It should be an easy project.

As already stated, the wappen has lots of potential in the right hands, and the helmet as well. Hopefully, it will get the remake and restoration it requires.

Rob: What you have paid me wouldn't even settle my "luxury cruise " bar tab. Lastly, if you are upset about the time it has taken to complete your Meck helmet, I would remind you and anyone else that it took 100+ years to get that way and to expect a "quick fix" is ridiculous. If you want it returned, as is just let me know. I am quite fed up dealing with it's never ending problems.
