Rare Late-war Gold Spay-painted Fittings

Some poor schmuck is going to end up buying this. Hopefully the fittings are brass and it can be restored. Worse case scenario, they are zinc and have gone to grey and were magically 'tuned up' with a can of gold spray paint.

....and, it appears to me that the leather has been painted gloss black with a sash brush. Look at the left side of the front visor.

What a shame.

It looks to me like the ball, mount, stars, spine and cross-base has been sprayed too. Possibly the plate also. And what's that leather patch inside below the wappen nuts?

Someones gonna be dissapointed.........
 
I am of the personal opinion that the whole thing is a repro. The wappen looks sand cast to me.

The shell is especially dubious. The high gloss, almost patent leather look is one of the flags.
