I have been tempted to purchase this on ebay but i have severe doubts over its authenticity. anyone any ideas? the liner and chinstraps seem a little too new.

Look at the references and take a deep breath. There must be some reason that no one else wants this and it is so cheap. That's because this is not what anybody wants.
 
Thankyou for that :) I had major doubts but wanted them confirmed. I've got two genuine haubes already but they are the leather ones. This was my first outing at getting a metal haube. i'll save my cash til i can see one in the flesh.
going to Prague soon so i may have more luck getting a new helmet over there.

WOW :o now those are nice helms! I bet they cost the earth tho! Ive beeen collecting for about 5 years now, got some nice steel pots and 2 haubes but more and more im leaning towards the helmets from the 1800's and very early 1900's.

Im going to have to be very careful about buying from this era! many thanks for the link! Im learning, slowly :D
