Hello for all.
Couldn't somebody explain for inexperienced. Why rear spine on officer helmets sometimes don't have external bolt on the rear visor underside.

Thank you. 8)

Well...I'm not an expert...
So many makers for private purchase and Officers helmets.
I checked and every Offz helmet rear spine fastening is different.

Yes there are many different methods for fastening the officer spine to the shell. These involve screw posts and soldered split brads in different combinations. The end of the spine on your helmet is held on by a small brad soldered to that flat tail on the spine. There is a small hole in the visor for the arms of the brad to go through and then they are spread apart which fastens the tail to the visor. I have also seen examples where there is a simple hook soldered on which goes through the hole in the visor. The most common method used was a small flat headed split brad which goes through a hole in the brass tail and then into the visor. Some manufacturers have the helmet size embossed on this little brad as well.
The officer spine never has the screw post and nut arrangement that we see on the government issued OR helmets. In saying that, "never" there could be older examples of officer helmets which have a screw post and nut...I just have never had one to look at.

I have just created a new thread devoted to the officer rear spine. Check it out.

Not a problem Leone. I had been thinking about that post for months. I had actually taken the fotos this summer.
