We all have almost the same reference books. Lol

I keep hoping somehow there is something I've missed that holds all the answers. Always hoping some undiscovered period materials will be found and published.

At this point it's interesting to view pictures of other collectors' rare items and see examples of things you'd love to find and make your own and of course think about all the items you missed while looking at all the things you didn't ;)

-No books ...but: nice; very nice reference articles from the "old" magazines:..and yes...French-
13 to start with: no excuse: about time now to improve your "Casque à Pointe français"! C'est facile!!!

Really impressed with your organization, great way to put all those articles in one place.

Great idea (y)

After the loss of 4TB of a defective External "mechanical" HDD...I kind of have developed a serious back up/copy paste mania...So: SSD's. A few extra...you never know when disaster strikes....😬

-Yes indeed.
...Our 'reference books'...at a blink of an eye we can tell..."these are on my shelf as well"... (Lol)...
-[...some are nothing more than picturebooks-some even have bad photographs/pictures....]. Some are real bad and full of mistakes. So I would categorise these as 'collectors items'. Some end of 19th century, beginning 20th century. Originals are rare and pretty expensive or Reprints [beware.. sometimes sold as originals...]. Some 1970ies...or later...
-The real 'Reference books': English; Français; Deutsch [...often in Fraktur]. It takes some time to learn read the Fraktur...about 100 pages to get used to...
No more excuse not to start learning French and Deutsch...The books are on your shelves...
-I prefer the French books by the Grandmasters. Jean-Louis Larcade and Didier Lainé. The German Pietsch etc...The modern Verlag Militaria books.
-But my all time favourites are the J-L Larcade Volumes. Two sets:
.one set in fine condition.
.And the other set for reference. Together with a good part of Mr Larcade's personal archive binders; Mounted troops.
My fascination for his work started in the 80ies. My first set. And two Hauben. Lost....2000...😬
.Then my first visit to Fort de la Pompelle; near Reims; France in 2007.
-His books show a great many of the original [pré 2014] Charles Friesé [1901-1970] headgear Collection
-To understand and to learn; I started to translate both volumes. [2010-2011]. To Dutch and to English.
As for the Fort de la Pompelle...now a 'modern' museum with an pimped exhibition of the Collection for today's visitors...
-Sadly... now...the Charles Friesé Collection has lost its soul...
-sad to see the difference between the pre and post 2014 pictures.
