regiment steins

These jugs used to be part of my collection. I sold them due to lack of space. Thank God. The price of reserve tankards has fallen a lot. Nobody wants to collect them anymore. The old collectors are dying and the young collectors are not interested in them. The last 2 jugs are from my family. My father's uncle.They both served in the Bavarian Jaegers

I do have about a dozen of them, but I'm not collecting them actively anymore. They are sitting in a display cabinet in the corner of our living room and in the past 10 years not a single guest has ever commented on them, which I find amazing because as we know, they are quite colourful and have a unique shape.

Maybe it's a commentary on the kind of folks I associate with???

Unfortunately for all stein collectors you are 100% right. The decline is frightening. I remember some of them being sold for € 2000 plus 20 years ago. Now the same being offered for € 250…. Over the years I bought altogether 4 steins from regiments based in Bayreuth, Bavaria. I wanted to sell them last year. No interest at all.

I don't want to collect them
However, I would look for certain ones
I would like to display with my Kaiser and King Prize collection
A regiment that won the prize several times. I R 31 for example.
I have also seen a couple of steins that have the Kaiser Prize
on the stein. I would like to find one of those

Re original cost to recruits, average 3 months pay! (According to Heglenstein book on the subject)

I love steins but back when I wanted to collect them they were too expensive. Now, I would only buy one if it was to a regiment to which I have a uniform. I have one but have no idea what became of it over the years. Thinking about it, I haven’t seen them in 25-30 years so it much be packed away.

The Naval have always been rare and expensive
Your display is extra nice
The D R 16 with the 2 glasses is nice
Quite a few Bavarian
