Hello,
on a haube I found these two regimental stamps : the first, dated 1904 is from the 69 JR, the second (below on left) is hardly readable, but it looks like 296 RJR .

Hi Franco,

I agree these are very difficult to read! Here is an alternative idea. From our common database, we have this Mark:

jr69_1.jpg

This one is easier to read and makes sense as it is the RJR 29.

One way of looking at this is to look for RJR 296. If you have difficulty locating it, maybe the numbers wrong.

My understanding is that the helmet could have been handed down to any of these reserve infantry regiments. The request for this relationship came from repeated e-mails when we could use a posting to help everybody. No one ever said my lists are perfect. :) :) :)

Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 29 - Aachen, Monschau, Bonn
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 30 - Saarlouis
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 39 - Düsseldorf, Geldern, Krefeld
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 53 - Elberfeld, Solingen, Barmen
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 57 - Düsseldorf, Lennep
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 65 - Bonn, Siegburg, Deutz
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 68 - Jülich, Rheydt
• Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 69 - Trier

Hello Joe,
it looks like the picture you have in the common data base is coming from my helmet.... If you watch on the right side of the picture there are two letters wrote by hand (Br..); on myne in the same position there is the name "Brener".
It''s quite strange that two helmets could have the same marks and hand wrote name....
I tryied to put in evidence the mark using fine dust and a light clean; then I play a little with the light; if we assume that is 29 RJR, we have other two signs, one like a J or 1 the last one like a R or B . Could be 29 Reserve Infanterie Regiment 1 Bataillon? What do you think?
Regards
Franco
