Greetings new haube collectors! I have mentioned in previous posts that once the war commenced, the Germans realized that their pre war regimentally marked helmets could provide information to the enemy when captured. You will have noticed that pre war issued helmets were generally ink stamped on the inside of the rear visor with this information. Consequently, I have mentioned that markings were removed and here is a photo which illustrates that:

However, we can see that the regimental pre war ink stamps have been removed but the year of acceptance into stores, "1909" has been left on the rear visor. This piece belongs to a Prussian M95 Arty helmet that I was prepping for restitch today.
