Some day these replicas will be so good not too many of us will be able to tell them apart from the original thing like what's happening now with Third Reich militaria* and we'll have to move backwards to the Napoleonic era.
Soon enough, we'll be collecting Roman and Greek helmets and the most advanced collections will be lucky enough to own a dug-out (obviously) partial centurion helmet... :twisted:

(*) Here's a scary example: Someone recently bought most if not all of the SS headgear sold as replicas on the Bertrand Malvaux site and I'm pretty sure these will surface again on one of those shady militaria sites advertised as originals and selling for not less than $8k a piece! :-x
 
I agree with you Ron!
Exept for my cloth headgear,most of my TR collection are ground dugs; i prefere a rusted original FJ helmet over a repro!
Sad part is that Napoleonic era is very well copied as well.

I agree that it is getting more and more difficult to spot fakes from originals but fortunately we can always rely on the valuable advice offered here.
