This is not possible, John! The seller writes it was purchased recently from the grandson of the World War I veteran who brought it home in 1918. How could it be a repro? Look at the fine details on the front plate.

This is a first . He has run an add making us aware and now he has gone full Monty.

I hope he does not get in trouble.

It's not even correct for a Württemberg Officer. Spike base and front visor are wrong. Notice the fine original ( :-" ) paint steel helmets on the table with this one.

Sadly ebay will quickly remove his post as nothing for sale once the seller complains, hopefully a lot of people will see it first :bravo:

The seller is an active member here on the forum. :thumb up:

Brian, you scared me. As I was glancing too fast through the topic I thought at first that our friend ww1czechlegion was the author of the original ebay ad!!!??!??!

Here are two more that have been advertised correctly:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wurttemberg-Officers-Pickelhaube-Helmet/391958969247?hash=item5b42933b9f:g:uZ4AAOSwFmxaVdy1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

AND here is one that has not been advertised correctly --- $3500.00 this guy wants:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Model-1860-German-Prussian-Officers-Pickelhaube/301668170483?hash=item463cd2faf3:g:T~EAAOSwMmBVhqDT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Man, this Helmet is a really bad Reproduction. I‘m surely not a veteran in collecting Pickelhaubes, but this is a piece of crap, even for me ](*,)
But I saved the Sellers on my Don‘t-List, thank you for the tipps :bravo:

eBay unfortunately pulled my listing down 3-days before the auction ended. A couple of suckers bid on the piece of junk UK made helmet, and it ended up selling for $869.99.

I'm always amazed that some folks are that reckless with their money, spending it on complete worthless crap such as this helmet.

As a side note, eBay pulled the auction due to "copyright" violation, "unauthorized use of image(s)". Here's what eBAy said: "Your listing was reviewed after the rights owner notified us that your listing used their copyrighted image without permission."

Anyone want to send the crook an email? Here's his direct email address, thanks to eBay: [email protected]

Best Regards,

Alan
