Reservist stein

I wasn't sure if I should post this in latest find or in collector story. My father has a regimental stein from his grandfather who was a Gefreiter in the 2nd Chevauleger "Taxis" Regiment. It's in great condition and I hope to get it some day. Well before Christmas I was browsing eBay looking at the regimental steins and saw one that looked a lot like my dad's. I took a closer look and, yes it was 2nd Chevauleger and, yes, it seemed to be the same dates. Then I looked at the roster list. There was my great-grandfather's name. The stein belonged to a young fellow in the same squadron who would have known the old fellow. Very happy to shell out a few shekels for it.

A very nice Krug. It is good to know that this artefact has found a new home with someone for whom it has a special significance. Reservist Krugs in good condition are excellent memorabilia particularly when you are able to match them with other items from the same unit.

A great looking stein with extra bonus that it belonged to someone who served with your grandfather and most likely knew him well. That's very exciting, congratulations!
