Hi,

I was looking for information about the 2. Großherzoglich Mecklenburgisches Dragoner-Regt. Nr.18 and I have to admit that I am little confuse.
According to my knowledge the 1. Großherzoglich Mecklenburgisches Dragoner-Regiment Nr. 17 as well as 2. Großherzoglich Mecklenburgisches Dragoner-Regt. Nr.18 where part of the Army Corps IX (B.A.IX).

In the internet there are some sources, which indicates that these regiments were part of the B.A.VIII.
Even Tony assigned these regiments to VIII Army Corps.

Is this an overlooking? Or they actually belonged to B.A.VIII?
Explanations are welcome :D
Thanks

Milosz,

Both Mecklenburg Dragoon Regiments were under command 17. Kavallerie-Brigade of 17. Division of IX. Armee-Korps. IX. Armee-korps had its own Bekleidungsamt in Altona.

As usual Glenn is absolutely correct. One of the things I've been working on is the entire HKK experience in 1914. These guys went to war as part of HKK2 with its convoluted chain of command. What is most interesting is that these two regiments got spanked badly by the Belgians in the battle of Haelen. Known as the "Battle of the silver helmets" they really got torn apart.
