Romanian Adrian helmet on ebay

Hi Peter, Great list, there are a few I have not heard of. I thought you would jump me about the coment about finding a writer. Sometimes a specialized book on a helmets goes into far more detail than a casual collector needs, and it would be nice to have a source that covers a wide range of helmet types, for example, to show the major differances between a M1917 US, a M1917A1 and a post war Dutch helmet ect. ect.
I know, I am asking for too much.

I figured you were yanking my chain. The problem isn't the writing. It is finding the source documentation. Much of my experience is from books and talking to other collectors. I have read many books, and have developed my own theories (such as the feeling that the Irish helmet badges likely didn't fit the helmets and thus weren't issued). One problem is PROVING it. Otherwise anything I write would be misinformation. I don't want to be one of those authors that in 20 years collectors like us say, "yeah, its a dated book and the facts are wrong."

So instead, I tend to write short articles on helmets that are really primers on the subject as opposed to detailed texts. The other big problem is making any money on this. As a full time writer I would strave and would be homeless if I just wrote about militaria. I would love to do a book on the history of the British Brodie and MkI helmets. But I would have to go to England for several months and try to access the archives.

But in the future I do hope to see a couple of book ideas come together. And in the mean time I'm happy to track any book on helmets!
 
Hey Peter,
I know that there is no money in militaria books, but I could send you a sack of spuds so you do not have to starve.
This is a reason that this forum is such a great thing, people can get an answer to just about any question i a very short time.
