Rough condition Württemberg Pickelhaube

Hello everybody,
Just stumbled accross this one. I want an Württemberg Pickelhaube to start my collection. I dont have any expertice though. What do you guys think in terms of authenticity?
Price is a bit too good to be true…

It's authentic but sadly it's in bad shape. The only parts that have any value are the spike assuming it can be removed from the damaged cruciform base, the Wurttemburg cockade plus the roseettes, the star studs and the rear spine. It could possibly be restored but only by someone who really knows what they're doing.

In my view the "kiss of death" is the fact that the front visor is missing. I won't consider restoring a helmet with the visor trim missing. Finding a piece of visor trim that fits a replacement visor has the same odds as winning the lottery.

My advice would be save your money and spend it on a helmet in better condition.

I feel the same way; I bought a very nice Baden Reserve Officer Helm some time back from a friend who was downsizing and the only thing missing was the front visor trim. I thought the plate was worth what he was asking for it, so I thought how hard can that repair be.

BIG MISTAKE after finding a few trim pieces and trying to make tem fit I soon realized my folly. :cry:

I would second Nicks sound advice. (y)
