Rough night

Our oldest cat of 14 years old passed away yesterday after a tumor was found in her nose two weeks ago. After I came home from work last night, I noticed that her condition was deteriorating rapidly so we had to call the vet who put her to sleep :(

I am a bit sad today :(

Regards,

Edwin

Hey Edwin,
Sorry to hear that. I can relate to your story as I had to put my Golden Retriever to sleep at the age of 10 when he became unable to walk a few days after we found out he had blood cancer back in Nov. 2007.
The hard part about owning a pet is that, unlike with children, we tend to outlive them and helplessly watch them pass away... But hey, life goes on!

Sorry to hear this news Edwin. It isn't an easy time, as I know from when I had to say goodbye to my cat after 18 years. But the thing to remember is just that... we can always remember our beloved little friends. And we can understand why they had to leave us.

I always think of how my great uncle's beloved dog Joey must have felt when Lou passed away. Joey probably felt abandoned, and never could understand why Lou left him. In a way that makes it easier for us.

Edwin - I know how it feels and can tell you that the very best thing to do is get a new one as soon as possible. I always *think* it is the loss of *that* pet that is so painful but find it is the vacancy in my life that really causes the pain. Lots of cats out there right now who need someone like you in their life.

Thanks chaps and we will get a new cat soon. My wife already found a potential one at the site of the local animal shelter :D

Edwin

I am so sorry.

There’s something missing in my home,
I feel it day and night. I know it will take time and strength
Before things feel quite right. But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart - it needs to mend. Though some may say “it’s just a pet”
I know I’ve lost a friend. You’ve brought such laughter to my home,
And richness to my days ….. A constant friend through joy or loss,
With gentle, loving ways, Companion, pal and confidante,
A friend I won’t forget. You’ll live for always in my heart,
My sweet, forever pet …..

Nice poem Tony and it certainly feels like that. When I noticed the rapidly deteriorating condition of our cat on friday evening, calling the vet who put her to sleep was the final best thing that I could do for my little friend, which offcourse still hurts.

Kind regards,

Edwin

Thanks guys! And below is our latest family member that we got last saturday from the animal shelter and is already 5 months old. As you can see he was recently awarded the iron cross second class for bravery :D

Regards,

Edwin

This guy probably doesn't realize he just won the lottery... Think about it: he's got at least 14 years of free food and lodging ahead of him with no major worries apart those pickelhaubes of yours... Congrats! :)
