Royal West African Frontier Force Uniform

This is my work in progress uniform display for a soldier of the Royal West African Frontier Force. This is later period but the uniform was largely unchanged for most of the 20th century. It features original fez, buttons, S-belt, underbelt and most importantly the vest. This regiment used the British collarless tunic and one account says it was just tucked into the shorts or cut down.

I still need to get a couple of "pieces" including Nigerian Regiment shoulder titles (those are in the mail) and the proper shorts and socks, so right now it is just a "half mannequin." This might be as close as I can get however.

Very nice! Would that vest be for a left-handed shooter?

Hi Ron--
No, I think it is just the design, perhaps for marching the rifle leaned against the shoulder, but I really don't know. Something I will have to investigate.

Cheers,
Peter
