Hi

Please go to: http://cgi.ebay.fr/Casque-a-pointe-de-la-garde-a-pied-saxonne-IR100_W0QQitemZ180089797163QQihZ008QQcategoryZ79243QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

At first glance, a good one, but...

Any remarks on the stamp "Eigenthum" ?
Any remarks on the officer type plate (this plate is with screws)?

Best regards

Eric

Its a reference site, so no problem at all. The stamp has me confused though. I know it is spelled worng, but the shape of the letters, the style, everything about it looks like typical period stampings? I have no idea.

Spelling changed in 1901. Before the "h" often followed a "t", for example in the word "thal" for valley (since then "tal") which is often still present in town names. But orthography was not so consistent anyway so probably both versions can be found before and a even a few years after 1901.

Some of you may remember that this helmet - or one extremely similar - was already offered on ebay a few years ago. Yes, Eigenthum is correct.

Thank you Robert. Very good to know. But this would still be the first time I have ever seen a helmet property stamped. The property stamp was added to Waffenrock and Schirmmützen to designate a piece of clothing bought with Regimental funds for an NCO. But on a helmet? I would like to think it was a unique thing that was done by Sachsen IR100, but then the helmet would be private purchase. With that liner, in my opinion, that liner and other features make this an issued helmet. It still makes no sense to me.
