At least we are spared the usual "In good condition for its age"...

That's a real shame. I don't think even a wizard like Brian could bring this back from the dead with that rip in the side? Funny that you can see that the Reich Cockade is on the wrong side even though it looks untouched since 1918?

Then if we follow Mike and assume that dereliction is at least a proof of authenticity, what is this?
No motto on the plate, no reserve cross or Beamte small eagle either. Domed scales. Squared front visor. No stars to hold a cruciform spike basis...

LOL, yup - proof positive right there! That one's more decrepit therefore it's EVEN MORE original!!

That was pretty much my point Bruno as I've seen a few of these 'non touchees', 'dans le jus'(if I read that title again I'll scream!!), 'pas nettoyer', 'sortir le grenier' wonders and I always wonder just how 'pas touchee' they really are?

I got suckered by one once too - never mind we have to learn the hard way.

It's a good usp I reckon? :D

Next time I flog one on ebay I'll get my mother-in-law to sit on it and then shove it inside the hoover bag and leave it for a few weeks.

Some good parts on that one (the Garde) Mikey but even the wappen is minus the crown. Perhaps the shell could be patched some how from the inside but one would have to be able to handle the piece in order to plan out what could possiblly be done. So basically we are looking at the parts for use on another helmet as far as I am concerned at the moment. As for the second...Vive la France!! Buyer beware!
