Safety Fuerst?

Chas and I discussed this a bit after I got all excited about it and he reined me in a bit. I decided to pass after all. Is it genuine or what? I was ready to blow a few bob on it and I'm kind of glad I didn't. Somebody wanted it though.

Hi Mikey:
I scoped this out looks original BUT....missing the centre wappen and at least one screw post. Hard to find items. This would probably sit your parts box for years! The heavy patina also prevents one from knowing the quality of the piece...voided crown means officer but who knows?? Brian

Got you Brian, it prob'ly would have sat around for years but I thought I had a centre wappen somewhere - must have flogged it!

And JR, what are the tell-tale signs that make you say it's a copy - and a bad one at that?!! It went for quite a bit after all?

Hello,

i bought one of these as copy some years ago.

I do not know if the word "dissymetric" is correct, but when you look at this eagle, you can see it.
And a so square shape of the ribbon is typical for these copies
I'am looking for a good photo.

I see what you mean JR, they have a crude look which I did not really notice in the listed version but Chas mentioned the 'squared' form of the bandeau angles. I was wondering if the pierced crown was filed out or not. I'll be on my guard with these from now - thank's!

Mike, compare carefully to an original below. Look at the Bandeau edges, detail, well, everything on the replicas above are much poorer actually....

Right, now I see it. The skull on the copy is particularly terrible but the Anhalt centre wappen looks reasonable to me. The birds themselves really do look amateurish compared to the real thing, I see that now. I won't get fooled again....well, we'll see;o)......thank's Tony et all!
