sailor dies at 110

That's it; they're all gone now... It's ironic, this guy was older than our wartime pickelhauben and now he's gone but our collectibles will stay and with luck will survive us as well...
Nice & touching story; thanks for sharing Pointy.

there is still one Vet left, Florence Green still survives in OZ, she was a nurse, and they often saw more action than soldiers, and some even made the ultimate sacrifice.

Hey Gus, when it comes to non-military personnel I guess you could include the medical corps and others as well.
Actually, what about on the German-Austrian-Ottoman side? Any vets left there? Are they even included or is the count limited to the Allies/Winners?

Hey Ron,
The last German Vet died a few years ago, I tink the same for the Austrian, as for Turkish, I doubt they kept much record of the individual.
I do not count medical as non-military, they were counted that way in WWI, by the US government, but then so were all the soldiers that invaded Russia, and for that matter the Women Pilots of WWII, I believe that if they go in harms way, and contribute to the effort, they should be counted.
