This poor thing popped up at a garage sale in LA a few months ago. At least, it was complete, if not all together. I wanted to send it to Brian for re-stitching but this turned out not to be feasible, for logistic reasons. Therefore, I did it myself. I also re-soldered the spine attachment, cleaned metal parts carefully, and re-shaped the shell on a millinery form.
It is marked to the Kraftfahr Bataillon and BAG.

Considering what you started out with..

Nice recovery! It's always satisfying to me when I can bring a salty helmet back to life.
 
Excellent job and results Bruno! I suspect you called upon some of your medical skills while stitching up this patient :)

Many thanks to you all for your nice comments. I would not pretend I can compete with Brian, of course... but this one was not too difficult.
