Eastern France has always been a problem in the English language. However, there is a brand-new book by Herwig and titled "Marne 1914".
The first 150 pages or so are about the battles of the frontiers and includes a great deal in English about fights with the French. Most English-language studies deal with the British and really key on the battle of Mons. This new addition is very very welcome. We are seriously discussing writing a book centered around the Bavarian experience in the battle of frontiers.
