Saxon Ersatz Tin Helmet

Id like to get your opinions on this one gentlemen. I've never seen one in person.

I saw that too... seems a bit odd to have two camo-pic's show up so soon after each other, but then it goes that way sometimes. I'm no expert on these, but wonder one thing. Were the Saxon center shields on the wappen silver plated brass? This one looks brass. Also, I've never seen this form of shell with the bead around the base of the dome, but that doesn't mean anything.

Like you, I'm interested in hearing more opinions... but another I'm not in the bidding for. :)

I am no expert, but I don't trust the camouflage paint on this helmet. But perhaps I am wrong :D

I don't like it at all... It seems to be a ww2 luftschutz helmet which has been altered. Anyway, the paint seems acid treated, the liner and liner band are not original...

That bulge around the middle does look familiar. The beaded edge has some ripples as if it might have been folded over by hand.
 
I hope I got this link right from the other thread, because I can't access ebay.de from here. Anyway, there's no doubt this one was a Luftschutz or Police helmet! So, yeah. As I understand it, the Luftschutz bead was added to M35 and M42 types if they proved to be of poor quality or were no longer ballistic (such as finding that the steel wasn't up to par or being removed from a burnt out tank or similar before being refurbished). But then, most of those shells would be very large. Also, the bead was more pronounced. So, I don't really know where that leaves us... I still don't like the helmet.
