Beautiful Helmet
My former e m Garde Reiter was by Osang DresdenBeautiful Helmet
Wonderful pictures.
I should get a close up on the inside maker marks.
I know of this helmet at that auction, and I know the lion was a copy, but I am not sure I understand what happened: did it sell for 8000?... did the auctioneer confess the lion was a copy?Compared to these fine Garde Reiter M1907's there was a bad bad show today: in a French live/online Auction.
-a GR-with lion-helmet was on Auction. Estimated between 8000 - 12000 Euro.
-when the helmet was presented with the words: "oh yes! Let us tell you...eeehh...let us say...helmet and lion were not born together..." started at estimated 8000 Euro...5 seconds of silence...followed by 10 seconds covered microphone mumbling and-without explanation-the hammer fell. No nothing: end of story. Better that it stopped there.
-The photographs-of the lion-tell the story.

I’m always amazed by your extensive helmet collection. It appears you have a vast collection of helmets. I’m in need of a larger display case for my helmets. I own more helmets than I ever imagined owning. Isn’t that a first-world problem to have?!Allways loved those helmets, never tought I would own one ...some day.
Have to join in with a 3 years old picture because the whole bunch is packed and stacked at a safe place, due to the fact I am not at home for the major time....
