Saxon or Indian?

Usually, the replicas are smooth, this one has the 'turning' marks from it being formed. It seems a bit 'round' to me from below (looking at the liner, which isn't the usual leather, but if it WAS made in 1918... ), but that might be the manufacturer. But from UK? Not for me, thanks. Wrong cockade as well and the weathering seems a bit 'forced'...

For sure not saxon!!!

For sure not saxon!!!

Agreed..

P.s. Is it me or is this helmet backwards?? The wappen seems to be mounted above the square visor surely it would make more sense the other way. The liner joint is behind the wappen? see bottom picture. That spike does not look right either, its not a removable 1915 pattern.
I reckon Indian :)

It does seem to be headed the wrong way, now that you mention it.
Two bids and some big money: US $740.41

:-? I hadn't notice that! Wow, yes, very wrong way. So, you know what this means, they've started putting the 'machining' marks in the fakes....

Is it possible this is an original unfinished shell? It seems very strange that they would spend time getting the machine marks on the shell, but then get something so basic as the placement of the wappen wrong.

The shape seems a little high, but it looks very similar to a couple in `Bowman` The wappen and spike are horrible.

Comparing it with this one

The difference becomes obvious. Even that is a simple helmet and an officer`s.
Besides, it looks really great. Can`t believe it has celebrated 200 years anniversary already
