There is something about the Saxon star that is so appealing. I love that helmet. I also love the maker mark on the helmet liner leather.

Note: from 1903, the visor of Saxon officers became semi-angular. This means that this helmet was made after 1903.

Can anyone advise me whether the trichter is buffalohair or horse hair. How do I tell the difference?

looks like buffalo to me on these pictures Amy. I go by frizzy hair for buffalo and straight hanging hair for horse hair,
