Just got this one in the mail today, many thanks to forum member and Friend Alan for putting me onto this one!

Super condition Saxon One year Volunteer Ulan Tschapka. With very nice Makers tag inside. Just need a fangschnur and Rabatte to complete

James

Very nice James! I don't have any Tschapkas (yet), but someday! :)
I almost purchesed a Prussian 'officer' Tschapka years ago, but it had a line eagle on it, so I let it go. That was right after I learned that there were different styles of eagles for different branches.

There are lots of photographic reminders that the OYVs often had a private purchase helmet with a mixture of officer and enlisted items. I have never seen an officer with such a mixture. I have seen one picture of a volunteer with what looks to be a full officers helmet.

With my love for helmets and the way I'd 'improve' my own uniforms (officer grade buttons, which I beleive were called 'staff buttons' as they had a two piece front; privately owned helmets etc), that would be what I'd have done... bought the best and finest I could afford (and get away with!). :)

Excellent James, very rare indeed! I love that liner with the woven ribbon.....I like to call that the "Executive" Model. Do we have that maker label in our list? Congratulations.
