The description makes a reference to an article on scroll helmets, but it sounds like the seller is trying to build a case for his item being an original piece.
 
He is. At the end of the article it calls out these helmets directly. This one has the great "leather trim". Fake.
 
I believe we have also traced the production of these fakes (with the leather trim around the rim) to the UK in the 1970's. This trim and the liner material are the obvious "tellers". There is no record or picture of any original filz helme having this trim.
 
The bogus ersatz Tschapka might have popped up in the same time/place:
