This guy has loads and loads of very rare cr*p it seems...
Some are harder to spot as fakes than others I guess...

These 2 'Original' Tschakos for instance:

Apart from the (wrong) brown leather trims, what else isn't right and most importantly, why?

Ron,

These older fakes have some easy giveaways in the marks. If you look at the Saxon look at the Army Corps that it is supposedly from. As that is not a Saxon army corps you can stop your search pretty quickly.
On the other thing look at the font- amazingly new. Modern.

His name is Jan and he is a good guy. I think (?) he bought a collection and is selling it off without knowing much about it. In the case of the old fake Tschakos etc, I do not think he knows they are bad.

Are all his items fake/bad?

The paper inside is written in Swedish. make no sense!?

I looked at the Prussian reserve Pickelhaube. I've never seen the raised 'rim' around the cross (part of the eagle), is this just a different model or is this one of the fakes? My IR helmet doesn't have it, as the breast feathers just 'indent' where the cross goe

The problem with all of this is the 'one bad apple' idea, I think. It makes people suspicious of the good stuff he may have. That's too bad for the seller. Perhaps if he could find and expert or ask US before posting, we could help him out. I don't like to badmouth somebody who's trying to be honest, but doesn't know much about the subject. (Like a guy selling one of those new Bismark steins as an original... didn't know how to tell them apart).

Is there any period photographic evidence of a felt Prussian Tschako with a big cross?

This plate in the auction seems similar to a busby cross.

What about a felt Tschako with a cross mounted inside the white-rimmed black oval plate? Do any wartime photos show such a thing?

Here's an answer to my question:

I told him about the "22" scroll helmet; he insisted it was real. ](*,)

Like I said, it would have perhaps done him well to have shown them here for opinions so he could be correct with descriptions and not make himself look foolish to the experts. Oh well, some of the stuff looks pretty good, other stuff not so, but I won't bid on any of it (because I'm BROKE! ..... for now. :P )
